Comprehensive

You'll get all these benefits, as standard:

  • Courtesy car
    If your car’s being fixed by one of our approved repairers, we’ll give you a car to use for the whole time yours is in for repairs. Subject to availability.
  • Uninsured Driver Promise
    If an uninsured driver hits your car and it’s confirmed that the accident isn’t your fault, our cover will protect your claim-free years and cover your excess, too. Make sure you get the registration number, make and model of the other vehicle, and the other driver's details (if possible) to make a claim.
  • Guaranteed repairs
    If you get your car fixed by one of our approved repairers, we’ll guarantee the work for five years.
  • Personal accident cover
    We’ll insure you and your spouse/partner up to the value of £5,000.
  • Foreign Use
    You can add Foreign Usage cover to give you comprehensive insurance for up to 90 days when you use your car abroad. You'll need to pay extra to add this. Please get in touch before you start your trip

Higher limits and a few added extras, included as standard.

  • Guaranteed Hire Car Plus
    If your car is being fixed by one of our approved repairers, we'll give you a hire car of similar physical size to your own, to drive until yours is fixed. Alternatively, if you prefer to use your own repairer, or your car has been written off or stolen — you'll still get a hire car for up to 21 days in a row.
  • Uninsured Driver Promise
    If an uninsured driver hits your car and it’s confirmed that the accident isn’t your fault, our cover will protect your claim-free years and cover your excess, too. Make sure you get the registration number, make and model of the other vehicle, and the other driver's details (if possible) to make a claim.
  • Personal accident cover
    We’ll insure you and your spouse/partner up to the value of £10,000.
  • Motor Legal Cover
    We’ll cover legal costs up to £100,000 to help you claim for repairs, loss of earnings and personal injury following an accident that wasn’t your fault. There must be more than a 50% chance your claim will be successful.
  • Automatic Foreign Use
    Our overseas cover automatically gives you Comprehensive insurance for up to 90 days when you use your car abroad. No need to tell us first.

Third Party, Fire & Theft

If you accidentally damage someone else’s car or property while driving, injure someone in an accident, or your own car has been stolen or damaged by fire – you’ll be covered. We’ll also give you a courtesy car if yours is being fixed by one of our approved repairers. Subject to availability.

Our Uninsured Driver Promise

Hit by an uninsured driver and it wasn't your fault? Don't worry, we've got your back. With our Uninsured Driver Promise, we'll cover your excess and you won't lose your No Claim Discount with us.

Motor Legal Cover

Included as standard with Comprehensive Plus cover.

If you have a road traffic accident that isn’t your fault, we’ll help you claim compensation for uninsured losses for you and your passengers – including repair costs, loss of earnings and compensation for personal injury.

If you add Motor Legal Cover to your policy, we’ll pay your legal costs up to £100,000 to help you claim from the person responsible for the accident, as long as there’s more than a 50% chance your claim will be successful.

You can phone our 24-hour Motor Legal helpline on 0345 878 8731 for confidential advice on any private motoring legal problem to do with laws that apply in the UK – whether you intend to claim for the problem or not. Please note that our helpline doesn’t advise on any claim you make under your motor insurance policy.

Guaranteed Hire Car Plus

Included as standard with Comprehensive Plus cover.

If you can’t drive your car because it’s been damaged, written off or stolen, we’ll deliver a similar sized car to your home, which you can drive for as long as you need to, while your car is being replaced or repaired by one of our approved repairers.

If you use your own repairer, that’s fine. You can still take advantage of this service for up to 21 consecutive days while your car is being repaired.

Guaranteed Hire Car Plus offers you peace of mind, should the worst happen. Please note, this cover excludes windscreen damage.

Protected No Claim Discount

If you’ve built up four or more years’ NCD, you qualify for our Protected NCD. This means that even if you make a claim, your NCD won’t be affected. Without this protection, any fault claim will impact your NCD.

No Claim Discount protection does not protect the overall price of your insurance policy. The price of your insurance policy may increase following an accident, even if you weren't at fault.

Green Flag Breakdown Cover

If you break down, Green Flag will help get your car back on the road – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It doesn’t matter who’s driving or even if you’re in the vehicle at the time – if your car breaks down, we’ll be there.

We’ve got various levels of cover for you to choose from, and there’s no limit to how many times you can call for help (as long as it’s not for the same problem). Simply choose the cover that’s right for you.

Whichever policy you choose, you’ll have access to:

  • A choice of different levels of cover
  • Cover for anyone driving your car with your permission

How Brexit will affect your car insurance

  • How do I renew my motor policy?

    We'll send you a letter at least 21 days before your policy ends, confirming whether it will renew automatically. If your policy is set to renew automatically and all the details are correct, you don't need to do anything. We'll use the payment details shown in your renewal letter. If your policy isn't due to renew automatically, you can renew it quickly and easily online. Check your policy documents for further information, including your Motor Insurance Schedule and Motor Proposal Confirmation. If you have any questions or need to make changes, please speak to us via web chat.

  • What is the excess on my car insurance policy?

    Motor policies have the option of selecting a voluntary excess in return for a reduction in premium, however other additional excesses may apply. Please refer to your quote or policy details. If you are still unsure please call us for more information. Please refer to your policy schedule.

  • In the event of a claim, can I use a garage of my choice?

    Yes, you can. Although if you use one of our recommended garages, all parts and repairs will be guaranteed for five years. Please see the claims page for further information.

  • Am I covered against windscreen damage?

    Yes, although the value of the excess depends on whether the windscreen is being replaced or repaired and whether the work is undertaken by Autoglass, our recommended windscreen repairer. For full details please refer to your schedule or your motor insurance certificate for your windscreen damage excess. Arrange a repair online with our windscreen partners, Autoglass. Claiming a windscreen repair won’t affect your NCD. Full details can be found in your policy booklet. Make a claim now.
